2004 Founders Award
Dr. Cynthia Irvine is the Director of the Center for Information Systems Security Studies and Research (CISR) and a Professor of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School, where she has worked since 1994.
In December 2010, she was appointed chair of the Cyber Security and Operations Academic Committee at the Naval Postgraduate School. Her research centers on the design and construction of high assurance systems and multilevel security. She is an author on over 160 papers and reports on security and has supervised the research of over 120 Masters and PhD students. She has served on numerous government committees and review boards. Dr. Irvine is a recipient of the Naval Information Assurance Award. In 2004, she received the William Hugh Murray Founder's Award from the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education. She is a member of the ACM, a lifetime member of the ASP, and a Senior Member of the IEEE. From 2005 through 2009, she served as Vice-Chair and subsequently as Chair of the IEEE TC on Security and Privacy.
