Position Locator for Centers of Academic
Excellence
All of the NSA Centers of Academic Excellence in
Information Assurance have successfully mapped their
curriculum to NSA training standards. There are two
scholarship programs that fund students to attend these
schools in return for promised service in the
Information Assurance field. There are presently 36
centers and the number of graduates with a strong
information assurance foundation is growing.
One issue that has developed is that placing
non-scholarship graduates in IA positions has been
challenging. I believe this is largely because of the
number of "cookie cutter" computing positions that are
routinely pitched to graduating students.
We are not able to get similar quality/quantity of
information to our graduates regarding IA-specific
opportunities.
It would be nice if we could facilitate matching this
valuable IA resource to available positions.
It is The Colloquium’s intent to try to provide
non-scholarship students with as much employment
information as possible and we would appreciate if you
can provide us a URL that allows our students to review
relevant positions as they become available. Because of
the ambiguity in position names and in the way and time
frame for recruitment in the government, It would be
even better if I could receive relevant position
announcements via email for redistribution to students
nearing graduation.
