Dr. Maconachy currently serves as the program manager of the National INFOSEC Education and Training Program (NIETP) of the National Security Agency. He is implementing a multidimensional, interagency program, which provides direct support and guidance to the services, major DoD components, Federal agencies, and the greater national Information Infrastructure community. This program fosters the development and implementation of INFOSEC training programs as well as graduate and undergraduate education curricula. In this capacity, he serves on several national level government working groups as well as in an advisory capacity to several universities. In this position, Dr. Maconachy is the principal architect for several national INFOSEC training standards in the national security systems community. Dr. Maconachy began his career after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. There are numerous positions that he has held in relation to INFOSEC. While working for the Department of Navy, Dr. Maconachy developed and implemented INFOSEC training programs for users and system maintainers. He also served as an operations officer for INFOSEC-related activities for the Department of Navy. During Dr. Maconachy's time at the National Security Agency he held many different positions, including work as an INFOSEC Operations Officer, INFOSEC Analyst and a senior INFOSEC Education and Training Officer. Dr. Maconachy in addition has numerous publications and awards related to INFOSEC.
