Dr. Jeffrey M. Jaffe is General Manager, SecureWay Business Unit at IBM Corporation. In this position, he has overall management responsibility for IBM's networking infrastructure products. These products are designed to allow customers to have the access, scalability, performance, and ease-of-use for any-to-any communications in heterogeneous networked environments. He also coordinates IBM's global security initiatives in the areas of services, solutions, hardware and software products, research, and policy initiatives. Previously, Dr. Jaffe was Vice President, Technology at IBM Corporation. He directed the Corporate Technology Council, which is responsible for assessing IBM's major technological strategies. With these responsibilities, he played a lead role in the overall management of technology throughout IBM. Prior to that, he held several technical and management positions at IBM Research, the last one being Vice President, Systems and Software. Dr. Jaffe was recently appointed a member of the Advisory Committee to the President's Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection, which was established to examine both physical and electronic "cyber" threats to key US infrastructures. He is also on a National Academy of Sciences study on Digitization and Communications Science for the Army Research Laboratory. Dr. Jaffe is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Fellow of the IEEE and ACM.
