Founded in 1996 as the National Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education, the Colloquium has become the leading proponent for implementing courses of instruction in INFOSEC in education.

In June 2002, the NCISSE expanded its mission to include a greater international participation. To reflect this the organization formally changed its name to The Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education or more simply  -- The Colloquium

David Mahal

David Mahal,  Engagement Architect, Sun Microsystems

David Mahal is an Engagement Architect for Sun Microsystems' Customer Engineering team under Global Sales and Services. His responsibilities include the promotion of technical leadership, training, and program management for the Sun EDS sales account team.

In his 10+ years at Sun David has been a lead architect and Systems Engineer for several top tier SI and ISV sales accounts including EDS, Oracle, and Peoplesoft. David's current technical interests include Security, IT Service Management (ITSM), networking and operating systems, Utility Computing, and virtualization.

David is also an Operating Systems Ambassador at Sun and holds several certifications including ITIL Manager, TOGAF practitioner, and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). David holds an (Honors) Undergraduate Degree in Geography from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and a Graduate Diploma in GIS and Remote Sensing (RS) from the College of Geographic Sciences in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia.

Prior to Sun David worked for several years as a Geographic Information Systems Analyst and consultant for ESRI in Toronto, Canada. He also worked as a GIS and RS Analyst and programmer for the National Capital Commission (NCC) in Ottawa, Canada, and was an Artillery Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves for over 8 years.
